張嘉元接受記者電話訪問時表示，王建民也很感激皇家給他這個機會，證明自己仍具備在MLB奮力一搏的實力。
張嘉元說，皇家球團高層讚揚，王建民這個球季扛長中繼重責非常不容易，因這不是輪值先發，需全神貫注待命且不定時得登板後援，可想見體力的消耗與面對比賽的心裡負荷。
張嘉元表示，皇家球團高層說，儘管如此高難度，王建民今年球季仍多次替球隊奪關鍵勝投，球團謝謝他的貢獻。
根據「今日美國報」（USA Today）報導，王建民最近曾2次牛棚練投，他表示「手臂感覺很好」。因此皇家今天發布指定轉讓王建民的消息，確實令人感到有些意外。
據了解，皇家的選擇可能與目前球隊的戰績，以及王建民與皇家的合約快結束有關。目前美國職棒大聯盟的正規球季接近尾聲，擠進季後賽機會渺茫的球隊如皇家等，可能會藉由剩下場次的賽事，磨練新秀。
於是球團就會把有經驗老將如王建民等人的位置騰出來，給有潛力的球員多磨練，為明年球季儲備堪用戰將。
而皇家指定轉讓王建民的同時，也把瓦格斯（Jason Vargas）從60天傷兵名單移出並登錄先發，今晚就要在主場對戰芝加哥白襪隊，關鍵在於瓦格斯與皇家簽長合約，至少得走到明年。
反觀王建民是自由球員（Free Agent），且2016年正規球季不到2週的時間就要劃下句點，雖然依MLB的規定如何處置指定轉讓球員，球團10天內要做決定，但是算算時間，屆時10天後王建民與皇家的主雇關係也接近尾聲。
既然皇家的球員調度已經放眼並布局明年新球季，王建民的動向是否也有其他的規劃？篤信基督的張嘉元說，一切等明年再說，他相信上帝會替他和王建民，在沙漠中開江河，在曠野裡開道路。1050918
